IT'S THE PHANTASTIC PHALLING PHANEUF! http://www.flickr.com/photos/lester/79679791/sizes/o/
I'll miss White, for sure. And Hagman, even though he's awfully streaky. And even Stajan, who's been a brave little trooper, despite his failings. I miss the 3rd round pick more than Mayers, even though I'm sure he's a great guy.
Maybe they've just gone to a better place.
holy crap, CGLN, I totally forgot about that gif. Thank you!
Like I said, proper goodbyes are to be done. We'll have to see how this pans out, I guess
That's a given. In strict hockey terms, Leafs traded away some decent (and one mediocre) players for big future potential that will or will not pan out.
Of the forwards gone, I do miss Stajan the most. He faced some unreasonable expectations, and while he isn't the biggest, baddest, or the most talented guy out there, he had a good work ethic, and he was clearly proud to be a Leaf. I hope he'll return some day.
Hagman isn't as big a loss right now as many people think. He did play like Pavel 25% of the time, and did forecheck in an energetic manner even in the 75% of the games when he played like Valeri. He played for my town's team back here in Finland for a season, and that streaky consistency hasn't changed one bit. But the Leafs need consistency that is not of the streaky kind, and in that sense, Stajan was far better.
I'm looking forward to reading your farewells to these guys, I know you'll make 'em good.
indeed, trading isn't over yet.
I think Burkie forgot to tell everyone he thought he was just playing in "be a GM" mode in NHL10.
McS: that was a theory I saw: he confused his Blackberry and PS3 controller.
